Cabin, Bastrop State Park, c. 1994

Protected by the trees, this cabin seems to burrow into the landscape. Ribbons of white mortar secure the sandstone blocks forming the cabin's walls. The battered walls, those that taper gently as they rise from the ground, give a sense of permanence and human scale. The double-pitched gable roof is clad with cedar shingles.
