Shelter, Bonham State Park, 2008

The shelter, built between 1933 and 1936, is constructed of heavy, braced-timber framing resting on concrete piers. The timber was dressed and shaped with an adze, a common practice on CCC structures in Texas. Except where two sections of the pavilion join at right angles, the columns stand in pairs. The framing joists overhead have the same doubling rhythm.
