Cap Badge in Bronze, c. 1940

Early in the history of the CCC, officers who had come from the U.S. Army had their military insignia modified for use on their uniforms in their new roles; so brass letters "CCC" were added to the to the officers' regular military insignia. During the late 1930s, there were attempts to make the CCC a permanent agency. Although these attempts eventually failed, some manufacturers of military insignia had begun to produce service emblems, such as this cap badge designed specifically for the agency, rather than modifying already produced military items.
