Cypress Trees, Caddo Lake State Park, c. 2001

A grove of cypress trees flourishes in the shallow, still waters of Caddo Lake. It was the serene beauty of this landscape that inspired CCC park planners to establish Caddo Lake State Park—along with the fervor of local citizenry and the political might of U.S. Senator Morris Sheppard of nearby Texarkana.
