CCC Company 857 Barracks, Sign and Visitors, 1936

Company 857 transferred from Caddo Lake to "Paris State Park" in the winter period, 1935-1936, when visitors posed at the camp headquarters on Lake Crook near Paris.  Unfortunately, Paris city officials refused to transfer their lakeside land to the State Parks Board, because proposed CCC-built swimming facilities would be open to all citizens, black and white.  The National Park Service moved Company 857 back to Caddo Lake in the summer period of 1936.
