Farm Security Administration photographer Russell Lee captured the economic devastation of the Great Depression which affected all levels of society, including children. Food deprivation had both long and short term consequences, a factor that led the CCC to adopt liberal food supply policies. Most enrollees gained weight while at a CCC camp.
