Teenaged Franklin D. Roosevelt Swimming with Friends, 1900

During his teenage years Roosevelt and his friends often went swimming at Morgan's Pond near the Roosevelt family estate in Hyde Park. Because swimming was a favorite recreational pastime for Roosevelt throughout his life, it figured prominently in his concept of parks. As a result, many CCC-built parks featured swimming areas.
