West Elevation, Mission Nuestra Señora de Espíritu Santo de Zúñiga Reconstruction, Goliad State Park, 1935 -1941

This photo shows work underway on the west elevation of the church. Note the truck, ladder, and scaffolding at the center of the image; to the right are two individuals at tables rough-working the stone. An ambitious undertaking, designed by Samuel C. P. Vosper, with Raiford L. Stripling and Chester Nagel, the mission was constructed by CCC Co. 3822(V), a unit primarily comprised of veterans of World War I.
