Lookout House, Lake Brownwood State Park, c. 1998

In 1935 the cost of building this relatively simple limestone shelter was estimated at $235.00. Architect Paul E. Pressler designed a grand staircase that descends from the shelter to a pier. The decoratively canted stone on the side wall is a motif used in other CCC buildings in the park, notably the combination building and cook's quarters.
