Company 1827(V), Meridian State Park, September 1934

Members of the company, comprised of veterans from World War I, gathered near the end of their time at the park. Some African American enrollees (back right) worked as support crews to white units but were not otherwise allowed to participate in camp programs. While some mixed-race companies existed through 1934, segregated companies became the rule in mid 1935.
